Statuary

Statuary is a key visual element in many places of worship, and Sacred Spaces offers a range of services to satisfy your needs.  Clients may choose from our extensive collection of pre-made statuary, which can then be incorporated into your overall liturgical design and installed by our skilled craftsmen.  Alternatively, you can customize a pre-made statue by working with our design team, who will then have the statue shipped, unfinished, to Sacred Spaces, where our artists will custom-paint the statue according to your preferences.  Custom-painting is a beautiful and affordable way to create a unique statue with colors and facial expressions that reflect and enhance the mood and tone you wish to create in your liturgical space.

A truly unique statue, designed and executed solely for your worship space, begins with a consultation with our designers, who will then translate your needs to our artists.  Our artists produce a drawing and a coloration sample that, if you deem satisfactory, is sent to our office in Italy.  A scale model of the statue is created and shipped to Sacred Spaces for your approval, before it is rendered in its final, full size version. The final version may be cast in bronze using the lost-wax method, or carved of linden, a wood with a long and rich tradition of use in liturgical statuary, and was known in the Middle Ages as “sacred wood” because of its frequent use in liturgical settings.
