Sacred Art Removal Services

A number of dioceses, in recent years, have been forced to close churches in the inner city as parish populations have relocated to the suburbs.  These dioceses have called upon Sacred Spaces to assist them in appraising, documenting and removing the interior furnishings and art works of closed churches prior to the sale of the property. Because of this need, and because of the expertise of our company art restoration specialists and craftsmen, who specialize in  marble and woodworking, Sacred Spaces has worked diligently to develop a team of experts trained in the removal of sacred art and furnishings including the disassembly and removal of marble wainscoting, shrines and flooring.  This training also includes packing, restoring, warehousing and shipping of these works for re-use in new churches.

Complete documentation is provided to the diocese at the end of the project.  Our appraisers begin the process by compiling a report that accurately itemizes all works of art against current and replacement values (using both intrinsic and historic criteria).

Condition reports, along with record photography, are provided for every item.  Recommendations for restoration and preservation treatments are included in this document, as well.

We remove Sacred Art from Churches

At Sacred Spaces we begin with an initial consultation to determine the scope of work for your project. Conceptual designs are then prepared, based upon these meetings, and sent to you for approval.

After we receive your approval, we create the final detailed drawings and prepare the final specifications. Work begins and prior to the completion of the job, we inspect our work to be sure that it adheres to our company's high standards.

Our Website Warehouse

Often, a diocese will request that we list the items we have been contracted to appraise and remove from closed churches on our WEB site so they might become available, for a modest donation, to other churches around the country.  Usually, we are asked to make items exclusively available to pastors of churches within the home diocese for an initial period of time.  After the specified period of time, we then publish the list nationally, making the pieces available to any church in the country.
